DIY Upcycled Cinnamon Broom

A new season is upon us and it’s my favorite!  I’m so excited because it’s gonna be fall, y’all!  Honestly, if you live in the south, you’re always ready for some cooler weather. But other than that, yummy foods, and delicious smells that get me too.  One of those smells that I love in particular is cinnamon.  I love walking into any grocery store and immediately smelling the cinnamon brooms on display.  However, once they lose their smell, there’s one more thing you can do with them before you throw it out! And I HATE to throw anything out, so i’ve found a new purpose for this broom that’s perfect to hand on your door all November long!

What You’ll Need: Cinnamon Broom, Fabric, Glue, Wooden Circles, Chalkboard Paint, Twine

Paint your circles with the chalkboard paint and allow to dry.

While your circles are drying, rip wide strips of fabric.  I used muslin because it gets stringy when you rip it, great for Halloween projects.  Muslin fabric is typically used for dress mock ups and is usually found toward the back of the fabric section of Hobby Lobby.

Wrap the fabric strips around the broom handle and hold in place with a little glue as you work your way down. To finish, tie it off at the bottom in a pretty bow. I like to let the bow hang a bit in length to add some frill.
