Meet Lauren Karr

I am a first time mom to a 2-year-old son. We are definitely a city family and plan to raise our child within Atlanta proper. We are the stereotypical family who is terrified to live in a suburb. We are a family focused on love, fun, structure, education, and spending as much time together as we can. I take parenting very seriously but I don’t ever take myself that seriously. I found MAMC shortly after having my son. As a new mom, I was feeling a bit isolated. I didn’t have any friends with young children. Most of my friends had kids much earlier than myself. I eventually started making myself get out and meet other moms who were at the same life stage as me. I met some wonderful Atlanta moms who added me to the MAMC page. I have found that MAMC is a place for all moms to openly share without judgement. It is a place of privacy and discretion but also support and a kind of sisterhood. Although the moms on this page come from all different perspectives, I think it offers a well-rounded sampling of parenting dilemmas, processes, and theories. I may not always understand the perspective of some of the other moms, and they might not understand mine, but it is nice to be exposed to all of it. I’m looking forward to being able to give a voice to the working moms in the MAMC group.

When Lauren has time, she keeps up with a personal blog that has followed her family through their struggles in conceiving to their adventures in parenting. It’s call “Driving This Karr
