Backyard Obstacle Course: Family Fitness Fun

0

Be a ninja warrior in your own backyard!  With just a few simple backyard toys you can create an obstacle course that’s family fitness fun for all ages.

Last time in my post about How To Sneak A Workout Into Busy Mom Life  I mentioned that The CDC urges you to do 150 minutes of activity each week.  For children that number is more like 60 minutes a day!  You can all get some fun activity in together and build your speed, agility, cardiovascular health, and strength all at once.  The best part of this backyard obstacle course is you can have fun doing it all in your own backyard as a family,…Family fitness fun…now you’re with me!

To recreate the same obstacle course as pictured above you will need:Exercise Cards

  • 3 jump ropes (one for the start and finish, two tied together for the tight rope)
  • 8 Frisbee’s
  • 2 paper exercise cards with instructions (as pictured to the right)
  • 3 pool noodles (one cut in half for the smaller kid sized hurdle) + duck tape and DIY Pool Noodle Hurdle6 plastics knives to fashion stakes as pictured to the right)
  • 6 Hula Hoops
  • 1 Beach Ball
  • 1 Bucket and a bunch of small toys

Most of this you might already have out in the garage, but whatever you don’t have you should be able get at the dollar store. Now go, play with your family or invite some friends over for a family fitness fun play date!

This is also a great DIY birthday party idea!
